The Commission is currently in its Seventh Programme of Law Reform running from 2005 to the end of 2009.

This page lists the law reform projects currently being undertaken by the Scottish Law Commission, as well as projects which have recently been completed (these are marked with an asterisk). You can link from the list to further details about each project.

Most of the work is carried out under the authority of the Seventh Programme of Law Reform or a reference from the Scottish Ministers under section 3(1)(e) of the Law Commissions Act 1965. Joint projects with the Law Commission are also included.

The Commission subjects each project to efficient management planning including the timetabling of each project. A short term project has a target date for completion well within the life of the current Programme. We intend to complete our medium term projects at the latest by the end of the Programme. Long term projects are those which are likely to extend into the following Programme, either because they are so substantial as to require more than five years for completion or because their scheduling is such that work will start only in the latter part of the Programme.

The details for each project contain information about the Commissioner and team members working on that project. If you would like to contact the team working on a project please do so through the appropriate project manager.
