Legal Assistants

We are currently seeking a small number of law graduates for fixed-term appointments of one year, to work as legal assistants on our current and planned law reform projects.  Appointments will start in September 2012.  The current projects include work on:

We will issue discussion papers or reports on some of these topics in the course of this year. 

In addition, new projects may start in 2012 under our Eighth Programme of Law Reform; including projects on homicide and compulsory purchase. 

The salary will be in the region of £22,173 per annum. 

Applications are invited from those who have obtained or expect to obtain by summer 2012 a First or Upper Second Class Honours Degree in Scots Law or any other similar academic qualification which provides evidence of relevant knowledge and understanding of Scots law.  Applications from other suitably qualified candidates who have relevant experience may exceptionally be considered.
